Chicadees are the signal for winter, to me, here.  Though I've learned that they don't migrate.  I'm wondering where mine go in the summer.  They probably head up into the higher elevations for cooler temps and food.  I know I would.  These precious little birds are known for landing on your hands, if you happen to be eating something.  Consider this a gift when it happens!  And I love their song, a quick sonic sound, that lets you know the little guys are around.
